  1. How did the Allies attempt to use diplomacy in the Balkans in order to find the soft spot of the Central powers? Where did the Allies have success? Where did they fair? Explain.
  2. What was the position of the Turks? Why did Istanbul find itself on the side of the Central Powers? How did that happen?
  3. At one time, Italy was a member of the Triple Alliance? How did the Paris and London manage to have Rome rethink her position with the Austria and Germany? What course did Berlin advocate with Vienna in order to keep Rome from defecting? What was the Italian price in order to join the Allies?
  4. What was the rationale for the Gallipoli campaign? How did the Allies hope to defeat the Turks? Where did the British go wrong?
