1. Why did the Protestant Reformation occur?  What factors in European history best explain why this singular event happened at this given time and place?  What impact did the Reformation on the development of Modern Europe?

2. Who was Martin Luther and what role did he play in the coming of the Protestant Reformation? What were at the heart of his arguments against the Roman Catholic Church? What reforms did he introduce to his particular brand of Christianity?  Explain.

3. What part did Calvin play in the Protestant Reformation? How did he differ from Martin Luther and the Anabaptists? What were the major components of Calvin’s theology?

4. Why did the Reformation come to England?  How did Henry VIII change the church in his realm?  What impact did this have on the future of that island nation?

5. Who were the Anabaptists and why did the public dislike them? Explain.
